(Yes, I realise this is from Skyfall (2012) – I could not find a good GIF from Casino Royale)Ĭasino Royale is a game-changer within the James Bond franchise, it is undoubtedly a ‘reboot’ of the franchise. James Bond without an Aston Martin is like an Astronaut without his or her space-suit, they simply do not exist without one another.
The filmmakers did include the obligatory and necessary Aston Martin models, the then-new ridiculously gorgeous DBS and the outstandingly beautiful, magnificent DB5.
However, I feel James Bond is never James Bond without a watch that does not only tell time but also is a magnet and laser – it just seems ludicrous not to have that. In one sense, I was right they took away some of the gadgets which did add a fun feel to the films, but I understood why they choose to avoid those types of ‘gimmicks’ due to how many films before Casino Royale had used that element. As an avid James Bond fan, I walked into this film believing the writers had changed course by too much, going away from the core of what James Bond stands for. Casino Royale (2006) is the 23 rd instalment of the James Bond franchise, which by that point was getting quite stagnant and repetitive.
